Male Students from ISCA Academy in Exeter where sent home earlier this week for wearing short to school during one of the hottest weeks of the year.
Around 30 male students came up with a clever plan to defy the “shorts ban” and wore the girls school uniform shirts to school to better brave the heat.
One of the students who took part in the protest told BBC: “We’re not allowed to wear shorts, and I’m not sitting in trousers all day, it’s a bit hot.”
The schools policy states that male students can only wear trousers to school while female students can choose between either trousers or shirts. Seems a bit unfair to us especially with the blistering weather of late.
Claire Reeves one of the students mothers said: “I feel extremely proud of them all for standing up for their rights. People are always talking about equal right for males and females and school uniform shouldn’t be any different.”
